Local voters decided on Saturday at the annual town meeting to allocate twice as much money for local road improvements as the town had requested, according to a town official.
The town had projected it would cost $20,000 to make improvements to Haslam Farm Road and Ralph Jordan Road, First Selectman Steve Jordan, said Wednesday.
Voters at town meeting, however, decided to allocate an extra $20,000 from surplus to add to funds the town already had in reserve, for a total of $40,000, he said.
With the added funds, voters approved an overall 2004-05 municipal budget of approximately $177,000, according to Jordan.
In elections, Jordan and Second Selectman Chris Kravitt were re-elected to the board, while Bruce Weymouth won a seat on the board for the first time.
Teresa McDonald was elected to a three-year term on the school board and Ellen Hardison was elected to a two-year term on the school board, Jordan said.
“Everything went very smoothly,” the first selectman said.
