DOVER-FOXCROFT – A clerk at the Movie Gallery in Dover-Foxcroft was startled Wednesday when a tire came hurtling through the store’s plate-glass window.
The tire fell off a Monson woman’s vehicle as she was motoring down West Main Street at about 8 a.m., according to Sgt. Joel Cyr of the Dover-Foxcroft Police Department.
In recounting the tire’s path of travel, Cyr said it rolled about 100 feet, landed in a ditch where it struck something, bounced into the air, sailed over an approximately 8-foot-tall snowbank, and landed in the Movie Gallery parking lot where it bounced back into the air and through the window.
“The tire traveled about 300 feet all told,” the officer said.
Cyr said the store had not yet opened when the tire made its entry. In addition to the window, damage also was done to some shelving, he said.
