ALFRED – A York County Superior Court jury has awarded a Waterboro family nearly $200,000 in damages because the manufactured home they bought four years ago was defective and made them sick.

Fleetwood Homes of Elizabethtown, Pa., must compensate Ronald and Debra Searles for injuries, take back the manufactured house they purchased and return the purchase price, the jury ruled Tuesday.

Peter Schroeter, the attorney for the Searleses, said faulty windows allowed moisture to accumulate on walls and other surfaces, resulting in mold that sickened the couple and their three children.

Stephen Langsdorf, a Portland attorney representing Fleetwood, said a decision has not been made on whether to appeal.
