BANGOR – Matt Friedman will join the WLBZ News Center team as co-anchor of News Center 2 at 5 and 6 p.m.
Friedman comes to News Center from WFMZ in Allentown, Pa., where he was a reporter and weekend anchor. That station is part of the Philadelphia market, where he grew up. Friedman graduated from George Washington University with a degree in Political Communication and has a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from American University.
Friedman’s first job was in Rock Hill, S.C., where he started as a reporter on a cable station. He has since worked in Rochester, N.Y. and Binghamton, N.Y.
“Maine is a good match for Matt,” said President and General Manager Judy Horan. “He is particularly interested in covering politics, which Maine is known for. He’s also a big mountain biker, so I’m sure he’ll love exploring our beautiful state.”
Friedman will debut at 5 p.m. Monday, March 29, with co-anchor Donna Gormley and meteorologist Steve McKay.
