WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe, chairwoman of the Senate Subcommittee on Oceans, Fisheries and Coast Guard, has requested Navy ships for the following events in Maine communities this year:

. Windjammer Days in Boothbay Harbor (June)

. Fourth of July festivities in Eastport (July)

. Bucksport-Fort Knox festival (July)

Additionally, Snowe announced that she has secured the participation of the USS Boone at the Lobster Festival in Rockland in August. The USS Boone is a FFG-28 frigate vessel that carries anti-submarine warfare capabilities for amphibious expeditionary forces, underway replenishment groups and merchant convoys.
