BANGOR – Bill Kane hit a RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning to score Jason Folsom and help give Husson College a 7-5 baseball victory over Saint Joseph’s College in the first game of a Sunday doubleheader at Winkin Complex.
The Monks took the second game 9-6 in eight innings.
In the first game, Josh Ferguson hit a two-run triple in the first inning for Husson. Folsom tripled and Shawn Henderson doubled, singled and drove in a run.
Andy Exley hit a solo home run in the seventh inning for Saint Joseph’s of Standish.
In the second game, Nate Leeman and Aaron Cieslak each hit a two-run single for the Monks behind three pitchers, who combined on a three-hitter.
Kyle Mathieu tripled twice and scored two runs for the Braves and Justin Spencer singled and doubled.

Southern Maine splits
At St. Petersburg, Fla., Saturday, freshman Joe McGhee hit a three-run homer in the first inning to help the University of Southern Maine take the second game 16-4 over Gustavus Adolphus. The Golden Gusties won the first game 8-6.
In the first game, Ash Larsen hit a RBI single in the top of the seventh inning to break a 6-6 tie and help push Gustavus Adolphus to the win.
Ryan Bourque singled three times and drove in four runs for the Huskies and McGhee had an RBI single.
In the second game, Tip Fairchild, Adam Lemieux and Brandon Brewer each hit a home run for Southern Maine. Peter St. Onge tripled and drove in three runs.
Andy Schmidt had three singles for Gustavus Adolphus.

Husson sweeps Bay Path
At Longmeadow, Mass., Sunday, Taralee Webster pitched a four-hit shutout, striking out five, to help lead Husson College to a 12-0 win over Bay Path College in the first game of a doubleheader. The Braves won the second game 13-1.
Melissa Porter gave up just five hits and one run while striking out five in the second game for Husson.
Nicole Lessard hit two singles for Bay Path College in the second game.

USM gains Saturday split
At Danbury, Conn., Saturday, sophomore Natasha Jackson hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to lead the University of Southern Maine to the 2-1 win over Western Connecticut State University in the first game. The Colonials won the second game 5-3.
In the first game, Jessie Becher hit a run-scoring double for Southern Maine and Kristen Tong singled twice.
Holly Szymanski and Melissa Walsh doubled for Western Connecticut.
In the second game, Katie Wardlow and Emily Cullen each had a double and two singles and drove in two runs for the Colonials.
Darci Holland had three singles for the Huskies and Christen Lachappelle singled twice.

Becker sweeps UM-Farmington
At Leicester, Mass., Sunday, Crystal Beaudoin hit a two-out double in the bottom of the seventh to scored Lindsay Hakala to give Becker College a 2-1 win in the first game over the University of Maine-Farmington. Becker won the nightcap 8-2.
In the first game, Beaudoin had two doubles for Becker.
In the second game, Rebecca Marks had two doubles and knocked in three runs for Becker. Kim Santangelo hit three singles and Jennie Randall had a double and a single with two RBI.
Mary Berry singled twice for UM-Farmington.

At Chicopee, Mass., Saturday, Tina Fontaine hit a game-winning triple in the bottom of the seventh inning to score Renee Lein to give Elms College the 5-4 win in the second game. Elms won the first game 3-2.
In the first game, Jennifer LeDoux and Jamie Parslow each singled twice for Elms.
Mary Berry had a double and two singles to pace UMaine-Farmington, while Holly Tripp tripled and Shea Strout doubled in the Beavers’ season opener.
In the second game, Lauren Stauch doubled and scored two runs for Elms.
Tripp hit a triple and a single and drove in two runs for the Beavers. Liz Seubert tripled and scored two runs.
