BANGOR – In conjunction with the second annual POETS-SPEAK! celebration at the Bangor Public Library in April, award-winning poet Kathleen Ellis will offer a Saturday morning poetry workshop, “Write by the River,” from 9:30 a.m. to noon April 10.
The focus of the workshop will be on exploring and writing various styles and techniques of poetry. Participants will share their work through exercises that offer possibilities to experiment and stretch towards new expression. Participants should bring two poems for critique as well as writing materials.
Ellis is the author of three collections of poetry and co-editor of the anthology, “The Eloquent Edge: 15 Maine Women Writers.” She has received poetry fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and Maine Arts Commission, and the Pablo Neruda poetry prize from Nimrod. She teaches writing and literature at the University of Maine.
