WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Olympia J. Snowe of Maine has received the “2004 Distinguished Community Health Champion” award from the National Association of Community Health Centers.

Snowe was bestowed with the honor for her continued advocacy and efforts on behalf of community health programs, including her support to expand access of community health centers throughout the nation. Snowe worked for a multiyear, increased funding program to create 1,200 new community health centers nationwide.
