BANGOR – The Bangor Lumberjacks will sign the No. 1 overall pick in the Central League Draft, right hand pitcher Laine McKeller from McNeese State.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound righty pitched his senior year in college in 2002, tallying 68 strikeouts and 42 walks in 82 innings of work. McKeller was one of McNeese State’s top pitchers in 2002 and was used primarily as a starter.

McKeller started his college career at Angelina Junior College where he posted an 8-2 record and had a 2.69 ERA. He will fight for a starting job with the Lumberjacks, but he can also be used out of the bullpen for long relief appearances as well.
