SPRINGFIELD – Voters Saturday approved a $137,000 budget at the annual town meeting.
The 33-article warrant was approved without any changes, according to Town Clerk Kay Thompson. Roughly 30 people attended the meeting at the Fortier Memorial Gymnasium.
In addition to monetary appropriations, voters also approved reclassifying the Bottle Lake Road from a town way to a state aid road, Thompson said. The state now will cover two-thirds the cost of any work to be done on the road, she said.
During Friday’s elections, voters also filled seven vacancies. In the only contested race, Paul Scott was re-elected to a three-year term as second selectman over Carl Voisine and Peter Jipson. Thompson was re-elected to one-year terms as treasurer, tax collector and town clerk.
Bernard Burbeck was elected to a three-year term on the SAD 30 board of directors. Fernald Linscott was re-elected to a one-year term as road commissioner, and John Krapf was re-elected to a one-year term as fire chief.
Voter turnout for the election was 40 percent with 102 of 255 registered voters showing up at the polls.
