A fond farewell

Paul’s Restaurant and Speakeasy on the Hogan Road in Bangor will serve its final meal tonight. The longtime dining destination will close to make way for Smokey Bones BBQ, a national chain serving ribs, pulled pork and other barbecue favorites. Though it’s bound to be packed, there’s still time to say goodbye and, more importantly, thanks for the memories.

Feeling foolish?

In honor of April Fool’s Day, the Rivertree Coffeehouse Caf? in Old Town is in the throes of a theme week. Come in for a coffee or lunch in costume and you’ll get a special discount. Today is Hippie Day, tomorrow is Wacky Dress Day (the soup du jour is Peas Porridge Nine Days Old and the special is Green Eggs and Ham), and Friday is Hawaiian Beach Party Day. Stop in for a tasty snack – and a laugh. The caf? is located at 319 Main St. For information, call 827-2422.

Easter treats

The people at Godiva know a good idea when they see it. Who wouldn’t want a lunchbox filled with chocolate – especially if it comes from the Easter bunny? The chocolate eggs are kosher, so they could be eaten as part of a post-Passover feast, too. The tin costs $18.00 and is available online at www.godiva.com or at Beal’s Jewelry Store in Ellsworth.
