KENDUSKEAG – When pupils at the Kenduskeag Elementary School celebrated Dr. Seuss’ 100th birthday last month, they voted “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish” as their favorite Seuss book.
The children were treated to green eggs and ham for lunch.
Several community members visited the school and read their favorite children’s books.
Visitors included Bangor Daily News columnist Joni Averill, WLBZ 2 news anchorwoman Donna Gormley, firefighter Gary Currier, bus driver Becky Underhill, school secretary Doris Mitchell, Hannaford store manager Reuben Lemelin and Maine Air National Guard Superintendent of Police Alan Smith.
Maine State Rep. Chris Greeley of Levant read “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein to kindergarten children.
Many pupils at the school made drawings and did writings inspired by Seuss’ books.
