HARMONY – Members of the Harmony, Cambridge, Wellington and Athens fire departments will participate in a daylong extrication training program on Saturday, April 3, at the Harmony fire station.

Firefighter instructors from all over Maine will present extrication techniques. Capt. Jerry Pineau of the Jay Fire Department will be the lead instructor. Classroom and hands-on training will be presented.

Extrication is the removal of crash victims from a vehicle in which rescue personnel first must remove pieces of the vehicle. Harmony Fire Department recently has purchased equipment to be used in extrication. Craig Aritt, Ken Campbell, Woodward’s Towing, Tyler’s Auto Body and Alan Fairbanks have donated vehicles for the training.

For information on the extrication training, call Jeff Chadbourne at 683-5873. For information on donating a vehicle, call Brian Bagley at 683-6033.
