WASHINGTON – The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced Friday it will reimburse the Maine Department of Transportation $838,693 for emergency snow removal costs incurred during two storms in December.
President Bush issued disaster declarations for 11 Maine counties for a storm Dec. 6-7 and for seven counties for another storm Dec. 14-15. The declarations made the counties eligible for emergency snow removal costs.
DOT received 75 percent of emergency costs totaling slightly more than $1.1 million for the two storms.
To date, FEMA has obligated $3 million to 282 applicants in Maine, said FEMA spokeswoman Cheryl Kitts.
