SANGERVILLE – A Sangerville man was arrested this week for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.

Michael Chapman, 30, was charged with three counts of assault, obstructing the report of a crime and criminal mischief, according to Lt. Robert Young of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department. Chapman was taken to the Piscataquis County Jail where he posted $500 cash bail.

Young said the assault involved punching and slapping. He also said Chapman has a significant criminal history.
