A woman, allegedly playing her music too loudly early Sunday, did not go quietly with Brewer police when they arrested her.

Officer Roger Hershey said that at about 2 a.m. he went to the Ebb Tide Motel on North Main Street, where Crystal Gould, 24, of Brewer was reportedly playing her music too loudly. Hershey said Gould did turn her music down when ordered to. She also was given a disorderly conduct warning.

Hershey said he and Cpl. Richard Smith went back less than an hour later after Gould’s neighbors complained of her loud music again. The officers decided the noise level was still unreasonable, Hershey said. Dispatch informed the officers Gould was free on bail in connection with an OUI charge from Old Town. Dispatch warned Hershey and Smith that Gould had resisted arrest on that occasion.

When the officers tried to arrest Gould, Hershey said, Gould struggled. She was eventually handcuffed and put in Hershey’s cruiser, but en route to the jail she managed to get one hand free.

Herhsey said he and Smith took Gould out of the cruiser, at which point she kicked both of them. They took Gould to the ground, handcuffed her again and secured her ankles, then took her the rest of the way to Penobscot County Jail, where she struggled with corrections officers, Hershey said.

Gould was charged with disorderly conduct, violation of bail and refusing to submit to arrest and detention.

A Florida man was arrested after he allegedly refused to leave Howard Johnson’s property Sunday night in Bangor.

Bangor police Officer Dan Herrick reported that at about 9:45 p.m. he went to Howard Johnson’s on Odlin Road, where a manager said a patron was being belligerent after being refused drinks. The man was shut off because he was drunk, the manager said.

Herrick spoke with Roger James Buckland, 34, who, when asked his name, told Herrick it was none of his business and that Herrick was harassing him. Buckland appeared intoxicated, Herrick said.

Herrick said he suspected Buckland was going to try to run away, so he grabbed him by the arm and told him that, while he was not under arrest, Herrick was going to handcuff him for their mutual safety. Herrick said Buckland struggled a little during this operation and was “very mouthy.”

Herrick told Buckland he would release him if he promised to go to the Ramada Inn, where he was staying, and behave himself. Buckland promised to do so, Herrick said, but when released made no move to leave.

Herrick arrested Buckland for criminal trespass.
