CASTLETON, Vt. – Carolyn MacAvoy posted a double and a single in each game as Husson College swept a softball doubleheader from Castleton State on Friday afternoon. The Braves won the first game 6-2 and the second 9-8.
In the first game, Taralee Webster tossed a three-hitter for the victory.
In the second game, Nicole Manzo rapped three hits and Krystal Bosse two for the Braves. Castleton’s Jen Gadouas also had a pair of hits.

Thomas sweeps Mount Ida
At Waterville, Courtney Corbett hit three doubles, two singles, and a triple in the Terriers’ two wins over Mount Ida and tossed a one-hit shutout in the second game.
Thomas won the first game 16-2 and the second 22-0.
In the first game, Kayla Beaudoin had six RBIs and two hits. Brindi Riley and Corbett also had two hits each.
Krystal Kelson and Erica Thibeault each posted two hits for Mount Ida of Newton Center, Mass.
In the second game, Corbett contributed four hits and five RBIs. Jen Couture and Kayla Beaudoin had two hits and three RBIs for Thomas.
Adrienne Xenos had the lone hit for Mount Ida.

UMF splits two
At Farmington, Stephanie Moriarty pitched a three-hitter in the second game to give the Beavers a 5-1 win. Lasell of Auburndale, Mass., won the opener 9-0.
In the first game, Lasell’s Laura Stone allowed two hits. Sonja Landry added three hits and five RBIs. Mary Berry and Holly Tripp had single hits for the Beavers.
In the second game, Kristi Cochin led UMF with two hits.

At Lewiston, Drew McKenna hit a game-tying home run and Rob Schuler scored from second on a fielding error in the eighth inning to help the Bobcats rally past the White Mules.
Adam Taranto led Bates with three singles and three RBIs. Griffin Finan scattered seven hits over eight innings for the win.
B.L. Lippert hit a two-run single for Colby of Waterville. Tom Salemy and Vincent Domestico each doubled.

Thomas splits with St. Joe’s
At Standish, Jim Pierce rapped a home run and a single, and collected six RBIs to lead Thomas of Waterville to an 11-9 win in the second game against St. Joseph’s. St. Joe’s won the opener 3-2.
In the first game, Chris Doughty hit a home run and Muniz and Nick Arno each had doubles for the Monks. Lance Haynes and Corey Pelletier both doubled for Thomas.
In the second game, Matt Pavlis had three hits for the Terriers. Ben Muniz had three hits and four RBIs for St. Joseph’s.
