Health Access Network has announced its new division, Northern Maine Nurse-Midwifery, will be headed by Barbara “Bobbie” Malvin, C.N.M., M.S. The network is a nonprofit, federally funded community health center made up of multiple sites. Malvin will continue as a staff member at Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln. She will work in association with Northern Maine OB/Gyn to expand the delivery of obstetrics and gynecology services to the community.
Maine PBS has hired Charlotte Renner as a television reporter for “Maine-Watch,” a weekly public affairs and debate program. Renner, a graduate of Bennington College with a doctorate from Boston University, previously was the co-host and producer of Maine Things Considered on Maine Public Radio.
Jon J. Prescott, president and CEO of Katahdin Trust Co., has been appointed to the American Bankers Association Membership Council as Maine’s representative. Prescott has 15 years of banking experience including six years at his current post with Katahdin Trust.
Thomas College of Waterville has appointed Bert Audette, a Houlton native, to the position of assistant director of information technology services. Audette was formerly an information specialist at Thomas and graduated from there in May 2003.
Dana Littlefield, vice president of the Hartland-based contracting firm E.W. Littlefield Inc. & Sons, has been named the 2004 president of Associated Constructors of Maine. He will be supported by an executive committee comprising Senior Vice President John Sturgeon of H.E. Sargent Inc., Vice President Jeffrey Ohler of H.E. Callahan Construction Co. and Treasurer Eldon Morrison of CPM Constructors.
Thomas College in Waterville has hired Bill Schissler as director of career services and Jennifer Quinlan as alumni recruiting coordinator, a newly created position. Schissler, a native of New York City and resident of Oakland, will advise students on job placement while working closely with employers all over New England. Quinlan, who hails from Caribou, is responsible for creating a program that will allow alumni to assist in undergraduate recruitment efforts.
The George River Land Trust has named Rachel A. Nixon executive director. Nixon has a master’s degree in elementary education and taught in Cambridge, Mass., before moving back to her home state five years ago.
Cathy Reynolds has been promoted to branch manager of the Bangor Savings Bank branch in Belfast. Reynolds was previously assistant vice president and has 22 years of banking experience in the state.
The National Board of Trial Advocacy has reappointed Bangor trial attorney N. Laurence Willey Jr. as Maine’s director. The NBTA, which is headquartered in Massachusetts, issues board certification to trial attorneys in the United States. Willey is one of nine board-certified attorneys in Maine.
