ELLSWORTH – A Blue Hill woman received minor injuries Monday when the car in which she was riding collided head-on with another car on Route 1A, according to police.
Frances Gray, 31, was riding east in a 1979 Chevrolet wagon around 11:30 a.m. when a westbound 1999 Pontiac, driven by Scott Phillips, 20, of Veazie, crossed the centerline of the road and struck the left front corner of the Chevrolet, Ellsworth police Officer Richard Sullivan said.
Gray complained of head, neck and back pain and was taken by ambulance to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth, according to Sullivan. Phillips also was taken to the hospital to be examined, but neither Gray nor Phillips was believed to have been injured seriously, he said.
Gray, Phillips and Jessie Curtis, 64, of Ellsworth, who was driving the Chevrolet, all were believed to be wearing seat belts during the collision, the officer said.
No charges are expected to be filed in connection with the accident, Sullivan said.
The impact from the collision sent both cars spinning in the road and damaged the front axles of both vehicles, Sullivan said. The Pontiac was demolished and the Chevrolet received an estimated $2,000 damage, he said.
