COLLEGE

Danielle Lee

A senior pitcher for the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s softball team, Danielle Lee was named Pitcher of the Week by the Sunrise Conference. She didn’t give up an earned run in three wins over Fisher College and struck out 22 of the 47 batters she faced.

Justin Spencer

Justin Spencer, a freshman center-fielder for Husson’s baseball team has been named Player of the Week by the Sunrise Conference. He had 11 hits in 23 at bats and scored 8 runs in a 4-1 week. Spencer also had one triple, two home runs and drove in eight runs. His slugging percentage for the week was .826.

Chris Sargent

A freshman on the Husson baseball team, Chris Sargent was named Pitcher of the Week by the Sunrise Conference. He gave up one hit and struck out nine in eight innings of work against Lyndon State College.

Rob Ligouri

Rob Ligouri of the University of Southern Maine was named Track Athlete of the Week by the Little East Conference. Ligouri won the 100 meters in 11.05 at the Bates Invitational to eclipse the qualifying standard for Division III New England, Open New England, and Division III ECAC Championships. He also ran a leg on the Southern Maine 4×100 relay team that placed second (45.55) and finished sixth in the 200 meters (23.29).

Chris Roux

A junior at the University of Southern Maine, Chris Roux was named Field Athlete of the Week by the Little East Conference. In only his third competitive appearance in the event, Roux tallied 5,084 points in the decathlon to place second at the Bate’s Invitational and qualify for the Division III New England Championships.

Kristen Sinclair

University of Southern Maine senior, Kristen Sinclair was named Field Athlete of the Week by the Little East Conference. She led a Southern Maine sweep of the top three spots in the javelin by winning the event with a toss of 132-1. Earlier this year, Sinclair established a personal best of 140-8, which currently ranks as the nation’s sixth-best performance this spring.

Jim Pierce

A freshman for Thomas College has been named Baseball Player of the Week by the North Atlantic Conference. He batted .444 with nine RBIs, five runs scored and one home run.

Carolyn McAvoy

Husson College’s Carolyn McAvoy has been named Softball Co-Player of the Week by the North Atlantic Confrence. She went nine for 16 (.563) and scored seven runs with four singles, two doubles, one triple, two home runs and five RBIs in four games.

Joy Ireland

Joy Ireland, a sophomore pitcher for Thomas College was named Co-Player of the Week by the North Atlantic Conference. She pitched her second career no-hitter versus Maine Maritime and went 3-0 on the mound for a week including a four hit, two run performance against Mount Ida and a four hit shutout of Lasell College.
