Bangor police arrested a man Thursday night after he allegedly pointed a handgun at a woman and pulled the trigger.
Officer Chris Morley reported that at about 7 p.m. he went to First Street to speak with a woman who told him a man had pointed a gun at her head.
The woman said she was walking down First Street when she passed two men, one of whom appeared to be drunk. The man was carrying a beer bottle, which he set down as the woman passed them.
The man pulled out what appeared to be a handgun, the woman said, cocked it and pointed it at her head. He then pulled the trigger. He was about six feet away.
The woman said the man did this twice then told her the police would never find him. The woman ran to her apartment and called police.
Morley said Officer Eric Tourtelotte and Sgt. Tom Reagan found the man in a vacant apartment building down the street and took from him a pellet gun that was designed to look like a Walther PPK.
The man, Anthony Ross, 20, a transient, was arrested and charged with criminal threatening with a weapon and criminal trespassing.
Bangor police charged a man with domestic assault Thursday night.
Officer Shawn Green reported that at about 8 p.m. he went to a Fourth Street apartment building for a report of a domestic dispute in progress.
Green said he listened at the door of the apartment and could hear a woman saying, “Ow, let go of me, ow!”
When Green knocked, the woman opened the door and said, “Thank God you’re here. I want him out,” indicating a man standing behind her.
Green said he told the man to step into the hallway, but the man walked away. Green grabbed the man, later identified as Daniel Watson, 23, of Bangor, and pulled him into the hallway.
Green said Officers Chris Morley and Ron Hutchings assisted in interviewing the parties involved. Watson was arrested and charged with domestic assault.
Green said Watson also broke a window and a cell phone belonging to the woman.
Brewer police arrested a man after a witness at a gas station told them that the man was driving drunk.
Officer Paul Gauvin reported that shortly after midnight, somebody called from the Big Apple store on South Main Street to say a man who appeared to be intoxicated had just gotten behind the wheel. The caller gave Gauvin a description of the vehicle.
Gauvin said he found the vehicle as it left the parking lot of the Irving store on North Main Street and turned onto Holyoke Street. Gauvin pulled the vehicle over.
He said the driver, Michael Allan, 30, of Brewer, smelled of alcohol and admitted to drinking. After administering sobriety tests, Gauvin arrested Allan and charged him with operating under the influence.
Allan also was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana, Gauvin said, and he was charged with possession.
