ROCKLAND – The city was awarded a $10,000 grant this week through the state Department of Economic and Community Development to fund a redevelopment plan for the Tillson Avenue area.

The city provided $2,000 in matching funds, Community Development Director Rodney Lynch said, and the money will be used to study streetscapes, landscapes and sidewalk improvements for that section of the city near the waterfront.

An architect will be hired to prepare plans for landscaping.

The cost and feasibility of constructing a multilevel parking facility also will be reviewed, he said.
