MONSON – Fire destroyed a farmhouse on Moosehorn Road Friday afternoon.
Monson Assistant Fire Chief Eric Melia said the fire was reported at about 3:30 p.m. It started and spread rapidly while the residents were at home. By the time firefighters arrived, the house was engulfed in flames.
Melia said it took about an hour and a half for firefighters from Monson, Guilford, Sangerville and Dover-Foxcroft to knock down the blaze. They stayed at the scene for hours to put out hot spots.
Nobody was injured, and the fire was determined to be accidental. The house, which belonged to Carl Olsen and his family, was not insured.
