Louie Luchini of Ellsworth snapped the Stanford University record for 5,000 meters during the Mt. Sac Relays on April 17 in Walnut, Calif. Luchini, a 10-time All-American for the Cardinal, finished with a time of 13 minutes, 25.19 seconds, breaking the old record of 13:27.31. Luchini, whose previous best was 13:31.80, was fifth in the race, won by former Stanford All-American Jonathon Riley in 13:21.11.
