Outlook: A split would be huge mentally for the Black Bears, who were knocked out of the America East tournament by the Terriers last year. A win also would help Maine as the postseason tournament nears as the Bears are sitting in fifth place while BU is third. The Terriers are coming off a 1-2 weekend against Stony Brook. Freeman’s 115 strikeouts and 171 1/3 innings of work are second in the league; Bennis’ opposing batting average of .208 is third-best in the league.

Outlook: The Bears continue their quest for improvement with a game against the Crusaders. UMaine has won five of its last six, while Holy Cross has won four straight and six of seven. The Crusaders are in line for their first Patriot League postseason berth since 2001. The Bears are averaging 7.6 runs and 12.6 hits in their last eight contests. Creek is 9-1 with a 4.45 ERA in 30 career mound appearances for UMaine.
