BOYS

Big School (Classes A-B)

BRAD SIMMS

Simms, a senior on the Hampden Academy track and field team, set a school record of 13 feet, 3 inches in the pole vault to win the event during a six-team meet at Hampden on Saturday. Simms also won two other events for the Broncos, the 110 hurdles (17.0 seconds) and the 300 hurdles (44.7).

Small School (Classes C-D)

COLLIN HENRY

Henry, a sophomore lefthander for the George Stevens Academy baseball team, made an impressive varsity pitching debut in a 7-0 win over Piscataquis of Guilford. Henry struck out 17 batters and walked just two in a complete-game seven-hitter, and threw 71 strikes among 98 pitches.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

BRITTANY HALL

Hall, a senior on the MDI track and field team, scored in four events as the Class B Trojans won their meet Saturday, beating out teams such as Class A Brewer and Class B Ellsworth. Hall won the long jump (12 feet, 1.25 inches), placed second in the triple jump (24-10.25), and was fourth in the 100 (15.14 seconds) and the 200 (30.93).

Small School (Classes C-D)

TIFFANY WORMELL

Woodland High’s Wormell had five singles and a double in two wins as the Dragons started out the season with a 3-0 record.
