WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Susan Collins is inviting all Maine veterans and their families to attend a special reception in Washington, D.C., on the eve of the official dedication of the National World War II Memorial. The reception will be held in the Governmental Affairs Hearing Room on Capitol Hill. Collins is chairwoman of the Governmental Affairs Committee and a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

The reception will be held 4-6 p.m. Friday, May 28, in Room 340 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

The National World War II Memorial will be dedicated in a public ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 29. It will be the first national memorial dedicated to all who served during World War II.
