PORTLAND – A former Sabattus elementary school teacher pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court to possession of child pornography.
Robert O. Caron, 58, was indicted in September 2003 by a federal grand jury after a computer repair technician found pornographic images of naked children on Caron’s computer, which he had dropped off for maintenance in January 2003, according to court documents.
The repair technician contacted the Lewiston Police Department after he started the computer and noticed the images. The police seized Caron’s computer hard drive and zip disks and found additional images of children engaged in sex acts.
The Court has not yet scheduled a sentencing hearing. Caron faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.
