Gagnon, Hews lead Crusaders past Warriors

FORT KENT – Matt Gagnon slammed a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to lift Van Buren a 7-5 victory over Fort Kent Monday in high school baseball action.

Gagnon finished with four RBIs and Trevor Hews allowed one hit in six innings of work. Andrew Taylor added three singles.

Fort Kent’s Tom Desjardins hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth.

At Limestone, sophomore righty Travis Brooker fired a one-hitter over five innings, striking out 12 and walking two, and Evan Boutilier’s two-run double keyed a 13-run first inning.

Boutilier had two singles to go with his double. Griffin Hardy doubled and singled and knocked in three runs and Adam Anderson had two singles and two RBIs.

Scott Brennaman had a two-run triple for Limestone’s only hit.

Central Aroostook 15, Hodgdon 4

At Hodgdon, reliever Andrew York struck out 12 while allowing three hits and walking four to power the Panthers.

York also tripled, doubled and singled. Brian Grew tripled and singled for Central Aroostook of Mars Hill. Tim Devane added two singles.

Jimmy Griffin hit a solo homer for the Hawks.

At Ashland, Daren Hunter had an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh with two outs, to break an 8-8 tie and push the Hornets forward.

Allan O’Clair added a three- run triple. Chris Long had a double and a single.

O’Neil Qualey had two singles for the Cougars. Camron Cunningham and Derek Schramm each had a double.

At Machias, Thomas Buck had five strikeouts and two walks while pitching a six-hitter.

Zack McNally, Chase Ross, and Austin Roberts each had a double and a single for the Bulldogs.

Gabe Checker had three doubles and two RBIs and Saben Rossi singled twice.
