A junior on the Bangor High baseball team, DeRosa pitched a three-hitter as the Rams knocked off archrival Brewer 5-1 on Saturday. The righthander struck out 12 batters, walked two and allowed no earned runs, and also paced Bangor’s seven-hit offense with a double and a single.
Small School (Classes C-D)
ADAM QUALEY
Qualey, a pitcher for the Stearns of Millinocket baseball team, pitched a five-inning no-hitter with six strikeouts and one walk in a 12-0 win against Sumner of East Sullivan last Saturday, adding two singles and three RBIs. Two days later, he pitched three more hitless innings with three strikeouts in a 12-0 victory over Penquis of Milo.
GIRLS
Big School (Classes A-B)
TARA DYER
The Ellsworth High senior pitcher limited teams to seven hits and two runs in the Eagles’ past three games, including a key three-hit, 6-1 victory over rival Bucksport Saturday. She also three-hit Hermon in a 9-0 win and threw a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts and one walk against Orono in an 11-1 victory.
Small School (Classes C-D)
ERIN BEASLEY
The Penquis High junior won three events at an outdoor track and field meet in Ellsworth Saturday. Beasley was first in the 100-meter dash (12.81), the 200 dash (27.20) and the long jump (15-foot-1).
