As Speedway 95 in Hermon enters its 38th year, fans can expect to see the same old, same old. The same exciting atmosphere, same tough drivers, and same great racing.
There were no big changes made from last year, just some touching up and minor repairs to little things around the track. The only change to the cars is that the Super Street class will be running a 350 motor in favor of last year’s 305.
Six divisions will highlight Sunday afternoons, and beginning on June 12, Saturday nights. Late Model Sportsman (Pro Stocks), Limited Division, Super Street, Strictly Street, Sport-Fours, and Four-Cylinder Pickup Trucks will be run. As in years past, the pro stocks could have trouble supporting a field of more than six or eight cars.
One of the largest divisions races on Speedway 95’s “Wacky Wednesday.” Fifty-seven cars are already entered for the Small Enduro class for Wednesday, June 2, and 70 to 80 cars are expected to be entered. Other divisions that race on Wacky Wednesday are the Big Enduros, Ladies Division and Trucks.
There also will be other racing action that you don’t get to see just any weekend. The Pro All-Star Series raced on Sunday, April 25, with Sammy Sessions of South Paris taking the win. The PASS Series will be back on Saturday, Aug. 21.
The Maine Legends Cars will be at Speedway 95 on three different dates and the Quirk half-scale Nextel Cup Cars will race there six times.
Another popular event at Speedway 95 is the Monster Truck Show. It begins on Wednesday, June 2. They’ll be doing four shows on three different days.
During the month of May, students with their high school IDs will be admitted free, and as always children 12 years of age and younger accompanied with an adult are admitted free except for PASS races and Monster Truck Shows.
