Archer paces hit parade for Hawks Hermon tops Orono, stays perfect

HERMON – Corey Archer had a double and a single with two RBIs as the unbeaten Hermon Hawks downed Orono 13-9 in a high school baseball contest Friday afternoon.

Phil Cayford doubled and singled with an RBI for Hermon, while Nate Ellis and Bill Bart each singled twice and Brady Hurd added a pinch-hit triple.

Jon Brothers led Orono with two doubles, a single, and two RBIs. Dylan Huckestein added an RBI double and Sean Babin had an RBI single.

Pat Jamo had a double, single, and two RBIs for the Wolverines.

At Bangor, Matt Mercer hit a two-run homer in the third inning and added two singles to help Searsport to the victory.

Matt Nickerson hit a triple for Searsport as Elijah Brazier and Sean Johnson each hit a couple singles.

Steve Blake singled and drove in a run for Bangor Christian. Anthony Cole and Will Hinkley both hit a single.

At Hermon, Ashley Burgess hit a solo home run in the third inning and doubled to help lead Hermon to the win.

Cassie White tripled, doubled, and singled for Hermon and Mycah Cyr hit a pair of singles.

Rachael Joyce hit a triple and a single to drive in a run for Orono and Jessica Bates hit a double with an RBI.

At Bangor, Laura Hamm, Cala Dearborn, and Heather Holmes doubled back-to-back in the sixth to bring in five runs and solidify the Patriots’ lead.

Annie Babineau singled twice, doubled, and drove in two runs. Amber Leathers went 5-for-5 at the plate and had an RBI.

Nori Francis-Mezger had an RBI single in the top of the seventh, along with two previous singles. Theresa Cameron singled twice for the Vikings.
