GUILFORD – An employee of Interface Fabrics Group, formerly Guilford Manufacturing, was injured Monday when his hand became stuck in a carding machine.
A co-worker witnessed the accident and quickly summoned emergency responders, who administered first aid while an ambulance was en route, according to Paul Bolin, human resources manager.
Bolin declined to identify the victim, a male. He said the worker was admitted to Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, then transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he was being evaluated Monday afternoon. Bolin said the man’s hand had not been amputated in the machine, but he had no other information available.
An in-house investigation was being conducted to determine how the incident occurred, Bolin said.
