BANGOR – The Warren Center for Communication and Learning is seeking donations, volunteers and business sponsorships for its third annual yard sale to benefit its Voices to be Heard auditory-oral program. The yard sale will be held 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 22, in the Warren Center parking lot, 175 Union St.

The center is seeking donations of clean, undamaged goods for the yard sale. Clothing donations will not be accepted. Items may be dropped off at the center 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, or by appointment Saturday mornings by calling 941-2850. The Warren Center is a nonprofit organization and donations are tax deductible.

The Voices to be Heard program teaches the deaf how to listen and speak with the aid of an amplification device such as a hearing aid of cochlear implant. It is the first auditory-oral program in Maine. Its younger graduates now are schooled with little or no special attention in their regular classrooms. Adults become able to interact with a world in a way they may have thought lost to them.

Fund-raisers, like the yard sale, allow the center to purchase materials for its programs for children. In the past, yard sale proceeds have been used to buy books, a computer, learning games and educational materials.

For information, call 941-2850, or visit www.warrenscenter.org.
