Eaton, Robbins propel Mariners past Howlers

HOWLAND – Shane Eaton had two singles, including a two-run hit in the first inning, and Thomas Robbins pitched a two-hitter as Deer Isle-Stonington earned a 2-0 high school baseball victory over Penobscot Valley.

At Calais, Isaiah Roberts hit a two-run double to highlight a six-run Machias rally in the top of the first inning.

The Bulldogs’ Thomas Buck allowed just two hits.

At Thorndike, Mike Mayer hit a two-run double in the fifth inning to help push Mount View to victory.

At Belfast, Paul Herman doubled twice and knocked in three runs to carry the Lions.

Jamie Potvin and Chris Hubbard each had two singles and two RBIs for Belfast while Nick Arthers hit three singles.

John Coppola hit two singles and an RBI for the Tigers.

At Milo, Mike Adams plated six runs with a double and two singles as the Vikings rolled.

Caleb Ashey stroked two doubles with five RBIs and Drew Mercier doubled twice with three RBIs for Searsport.

Rob Cook doubled and Drew Hamlin singled for Penquis.

Washburn sweeps East Grand

At Danforth, the Beavers tallied 52 runs in two games to sweep East Grand, 27-4 and 25-2.

In the opener, Seth Milton doubled twice, Jason Thompson tripled and Luke Hafford doubled to pace the winners. James Croan had a two-run single for the Vikings.

In the second game, Hafford singled three times and Josh Bigbee singled twice to key Washburn.

Adam Thompson and Sam Morris doubled for the Beavers while Josh Barnes had a double for East Grand.
