Teachers throughout the state are invited to participate in one of three Forests of Maine Teachers’ Tours being offered this summer.

In its seventh year of operation, the educational program is co-sponsored by the Maine TREE Foundation and Maine Project Learning Tree with the support of the Maine Forest Service and other organizations that help to provide meals, facilities and transportation during the three-day tours. The cost for participants is $50.

Space is still available on all three tours: the Moosehead and Beyond Tour, July 13-16; the Grand Lake Region Tour, Aug. 3-6; and the Golden Road Tour (Aug. 10-13).

Featured on each of the tours will be a Project Learning Tree workshop, exposure to different types of forest management practices, tours of wood products facilities, and experience with outdoor classrooms. Participating teachers will receive continuing education units, and two graduate credits through the University of Southern Maine are available for the Grand Lake Region Tour.

For more information or registration materials, call Martha Fenno at (207) 621-9872 or e-mail her at mtf@gwi.net.
