BANGOR – Alex Means rapped a two-run double and Dan Leighton followed with the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday as John Bapst eked out a 7-6 high school baseball victory over Orono at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor.

Mike Tardiff scattered three hits and struck out six in five innings of relief for John Bapst. Brian Roach singled twice for the winners.

Ryan Levesque doubled and singled for Orono and Travis Bryant added a double.

At Lincoln, Tyler Gardner had a triple and a single with two RBIs to push Mattanawcook Academy to the win over Sumner of East Sullivan.

Jason Murchison doubled with two RBIs for the Lynx and Steven Whitney hit a two-run single in the sixth inning.

Trever Renwick hit a two-run home run for Sumner and Jeff Burditt singled (RBI).

At Dover-Foxcroft, a three-run home run by Shawn Grass in the bottom of the fifth inning rallied the Ponies to their fifth straight victory.

Josh Pelletier added two singles for Foxcroft, which got a five-hit pitching effort from sophomore Justin Freeman.

Eric Day hit a solo homer and a single for Dexter. Tim McCarthy doubled and singled for the Tigers. Kyle Stone doubled.
