St. Joseph Healthcare celebrates Hospital Week

BANGOR – St. Joseph Healthcare has been celebrating Hospital Week from Monday, May 10, through Friday, May 14. The theme for this year’s Hospital Week is “Miracles Start with Caring Hearts.”

A number of events incorporating this year’s theme have been planned throughout the week to celebrate.

Hospital Week festivities began on Monday with a focus on heart health. Since the theme incorporates “caring hearts,” employees took a break from the workday and took care of their hearts by participating in a heart-healthy walk and rally around the hospital campus.

The walk was followed by heart-healthy snacks in the main lobby. Employees also were given a heart-healthy bag of goodies.

On Tuesday, the annual “Teddy Bear Clinic” was held in the cafeteria, giving children from All Saints Catholic School the opportunity to bring their teddy bears for “checkups” and receive “treatment” by medical professionals.

At this “clinic” children were able to meet doctors, nurses and other medical professionals in a nonthreatening setting. Also on this day, each employee was given a flower in appreciation of hard work and dedication to the organization.

A “Stories of St. Joseph Healthcare” display was unveiled on Wednesday.

The display consisted of stories provided by employees of how someone has cared for their heart.

Administration will hold a tree-planting ceremony in recognition of the employees of St. Joseph Healthcare at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 13, at the 900 Broadway Healthcare Park. The tree planting will honor more than 800 St. Joseph Healthcare employees for their hard work and dedication.

Refreshments will be served following the planting of the tree.

Hospital Week will conclude on Friday, May 14 with a complimentary picnic for employees provided by the Felician Sisters and administration of St. Joseph Healthcare.
