Bar Harbor B&B tour to benefit MDI YMCA

The 200-year-old bed and breakfast Coach Stop is one of 12 inns on this year’s Bar Harbor B&B Annual Tour from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 16, to benefit the 100-year-old MDI YWCA.

The event was organized by Bar Harbor Bed and Breakfast Association and co-sponsored by Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce.

Evin Hulbert of the B&B Association provided the information that not only was the historic MDI YWCA designed specifically for that purpose, but, unlike most B&Bs, the Coach Stop was also built as an inn.

Those who take this tour can expect a delightful day visiting Bar Harbor B&Bs, which are mostly converted residences of another era now serving as both homes and businesses.

Additional B&Bs are Llangolan, Cleftstone Manor, Manor House, Bass Cottage, Atlantean, Hearthside, Windhaven, Anne’s White Columns, Mira Monte, Holbrook House and Graycote. At each, you are invited to join innkeepers for tea, history and conversation.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children ages 2-12.

They can be purchased, in advance, at Hulbert’s Holland Inn, 35 Holland Ave., 288-4804; through bandbtour@hollandinn.com or the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce, 288-5103.

The day of the tour, tickets will be sold at Holland Inn, Llangolan and Coach Stop.

Proceeds will help the YWCA continue its work ranging from housing for women in crisis to hosting community meetings and events.
