ELLSWORTH – Kevin McAvoy hit a solo home run and a single to drive in three runs and help push Brewer to a 13-6 Penobscot Valley Conference baseball victory over Ellsworth on Thursday.
Jeff Miller doubled and singled to knock in three runs for the Witches and Andy Otis had two singles and scored twice.
Andy Berry had a triple and three singles with two RBIs for Ellsworth and Bryan Gashlin hit two singles.

At Hermon, Billy Shannon’s two-run single in the top of the second inning highlighted a four-run rally that sparked Hampden Academy to the win.
Ian Lee doubled and singled with two RBIs for the Broncos, while Jason Huntley pitched a six-hitter and singled twice.
Cory Archer doubled and singled with an RBI for Hermon, while Phil Cayford doubled.

At Newport, Brian Hackett struck out 13, gave up two hits and didn’t walk a batter in five innings to lead Bangor.
Nick Larochelle and P.J. Dowe each drove in two runs for the winners as Larochelle doubled and singled and Dowe singled twice. Ryan Toomey added a double, two singles and an RBI.
Josh Viles doubled twice for Nokomis.

At Dover-Foxcroft, sophomore Josh Pelletier hit a home run, double and single with three RBIs to lead the host Ponies to their sixth straight victory.
Matt Carey pitched a five-inning three-hitter, and also had a double, a single and two RBIs. Shayne Croan added two singles and two RBIs for Foxcroft Academy.
Dusty Thomas had an RBI double and a single for Orono, while Travis Dutton had a triple and three RBIs.

At Presque Isle, Chad Lavway had three singles in each game of the doubleheader as the Wildcats earned the sweep.

Jeff Cole had two doubles and two RBIs, while Tim Morrison had three singles and Kyle Gagnon singled twice.

At Corinth, Justin Phinney scored the game-winning run on a Tory Dearborn single with two outs in the top of the eighth inning to give Bangor Christian the victory.
Phinney hit a double and two singles and scored three runs for the Patriots and Dearborn had three singles with two RBIs. Micah Dougherty added three singles for BC, while Eric Sobey had two singles and three RBIs and Willie Hinkley singled twice.
D.J. McCleary hit a three-run triple in the fourth inning for the Patriots.
Nick Lancisi singled twice and drove in three runs for Central and Tristan Strout hit a solo home run in the third inning.
