LEE – Darcey Gillespie doubled, singled and drove in two runs to lead the Calais Blue Devils to a 6-4 softball victory over Lee Academy on Saturday.

Ashley Allen chipped in with a double and a single for the winners and Jae Whittaker singled twice.

Shelby Pickering slammed two doubles and drove in three runs for Lee. Michaela Ham added two singles.

Presque Isle splits with Bapst

At Presque Isle, Dani Grenier of the Wildcats drove in the only run of the first game to give Presque Isle a 1-0 win. Then, Marci Scofield led John Bapst in the second game with a double and a single as the Crusaders earned a 12-0 victory.

In the first game, the Crusaders’ Kim Meagher had two singles to back the three-hit pitching of Gwen Wadleigh.

In the second game, Megan Brown singled twice for the Crusaders of Bangor.

Dani Dyer singled twice for Presque Isle.

Hampden, Brewer split

At Hampden, run-scoring doubles by Evon Hudspeth and Emily Thompson highlighted a three-run third-inning rally that propelled Hampden Academy to a 3-2 victory over Brewer and a split of their doubleheader. The Witches won the first game 9-1.

In the first game, Anna Corey doubled twice for the Witches. Jordan McLain added two singles, while Christine Thoms and Kim Foster doubled.

Erika Veinote singled twice and Thompson doubled for Hampden.

In the second game, Lisa Johnson opened the Hampden third with a single, and scored on Veinote’s two-out single. The doubles by Hudspeth and Thompson followed to give Hampden a 3-0 lead.

Thoms doubled twice for Brewer, while Amy Freeman singled twice and Foster doubled.

At Rangeley, the Lakers took advantage of 15 walks and stole 13 bases to win Game 1 of a doubleheader, 12-4. Greenville won the second game 11-3.

In the first game, Darla Larsen, Elisa Gary and Skylar Towle singled for Greenville’s only hits.

Amber Frost doubled for Rangeley.

In the second game, Gary had two singles and three RBIs as Greenville got the sweep.

Michaella Bartley hit three singles and drove in a run while Darcie Larsen tripled and singled.

John Bapst, Presque Isle split

At Presque Isle, Jeff Cole’s two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth lifted the Wildcats to a 5-4 win over John Bapst in the first game of a doubleheader.

The Crusaders of Bangor came back to win game 2 6-5.

In the opener, Sam Mathers added three singles while Chad Lavway and Chris Parsons added two singles each for Presque Isle.

Alex Means doubled twice and George Keefe had two singles for Bapst.

In the second game, Joe Baillargeon hit a solo homer to give the Crusaders the split.

Keefe notched three singles while Brian Reach added two singles for John Bapst.

Lavway, Jeff Cole and Derrek Belanger each had two singles for the Wildcats.

Hermon sweeps Caribou

At Caribou, Phil Cayford hit a two-run home run, a double and a single for three RBIs in the Hawks’ 14-1 first-game victory. He doubled twice as Hermon earned a 9-3 win in the second game.

In the first game, Hermon’s Nate Ellis drove in three runs with a single and a double. Bill Bart doubled, singled and drove in one run; while Mark Joy hit a home run. Anthony Ouellette had an RBI single for the Vikings’ lone run.

In the second game, Bart and Joy each singled twice. Brett Danforth added three singles and a double for the visitors. Ryan Rogers had a home run and a single for Caribou.
