BANGOR – WMTW-TV and Maine Public Radio won “Station of the Year” honors Saturday night in the annual Maine Associated Press Broadcasters Association contest.
WMTW-TV won first place in nine categories including newscast, sportscast, spot news, public affairs and medical reporting. WGME-TV in Portland won for enterprise, writing, weathercast, continuing coverage and videography.
On the radio side, WGAN-AM in South Portland took first in the newscast and election categories but Maine Public Radio won for continuous coverage, enterprise, public affairs. WQCB-TV in Brewer won first place for feature.
Bangor’s WZON-AM won the most sports categories, including sportscast and sports play-by-play.
