AUGUSTA – Wednesday’s deadline for Gov. John Baldacci to sign bills into law passed with all of his work done and not a single veto issued for the 2004 session, spokeswoman Joy Leach said.
Of the hundreds of bills introduced this year, 271 made it to Baldacci’s desk and were signed, according to figures from legislative offices. More than 1,900 bill were introduced during the two-year 2003-04 session.
Last year the governor vetoed a couple of bills, including one to restrict fingerprinting of educational personnel to new hires and another to require the use of U.S. citizens for work with the Bureau of Parks and Lands.
