Crosby powers Howlers past Pats

HOWLAND – Jake Crosby hit a triple, double and two singles and drove in four runs to lead the Penobscot Valley Howlers to a 9-5 schoolboy baseball win over the Bangor Christian Patriots Monday.

Matt Cummings doubled and singled for the Howlers. Joey Cyr hit a two-run single and Nick Ware hit two singles.

D.J. McCleary doubled and singled with a RBI for Bangor Christian and Justin Phinney doubled and singled.

At Pittsfield, Taylor Helberg hit an RBI double and a single while pitching six-plus innings to lead the Black Raiders.

Brian Mannky hit two run-scoring singles for Winslow.

Matt Huff singled twice to back loser Jake Lasselle, who struck out 10. Victor Quint posted a double.

At Lincoln, Dustin Hanscom hit a double and had three RBIs as the Lynx held off the Pirates.

Steve Whitney added an RBI double for Mattanawcook, which took advantage of 12 walks.

Roy Burdin hit a two-run double in the fourth and a two-run single in the seventh as Piscataquis of Guilford tried to rally. Josh Luellen added a double, a single and an RBI.

At Millinocket, Matt Wark hit two doubles and a single to drive in three runs and help lead Stearns to the victory.

Craig Jandreau had a double and two singles with two RBIs for Stearns. Ryan Bouchard and Adam Qualey each singled to knock in two runs.

John Stewart hit a RBI single for Sumner of East Sullivan.

At Dexter, Eric Day knocked an RBI double and Mike Martin a two-run single to lead the Tigers to the win.

At Belfast, Silas Ratten hit a double and two singles to knock in four runs and help lead Belfast to the win.

Paul Herman and Thad Hills each singled and doubled with an RBI for Belfast. Josh Gallant doubled to drive in two runs as Jamie Potvin and Brendan Gardner each had two singles with two RBIs.

At Searsport, Spencer Garton tripled, doubled and singled for two RBIs as the Vikings rolled.

Mike Adams hit three singles and added an RBI for Searsport, while Matt Nickerson added a double, a single and two RBIs.

Bryant Ciomei led the Mariners with a double and a single.

At Blue Hill, Dan Hilts fired a no-hitter with seven strikeouts and four walks to lead the Eagles over the Raiders of East Machias.

Adam Cousins hit a solo homer and singled for the winners. Phineas Peake notched an RBI single while Blake Wessel singled twice.

Saben Rossi contributed three singles and two RBIs, and Jamie Bailey and Kyle Kennedy added two singles and an RBI each. Corey Worcester struck out 10 over the five innings.

Reginald Mitchell posted a pair of singles and Joseph Libby had one for the Royals.

Shead sweeps East Grand

At Eastport, Anthony Lewey gave up just five hits and one walk while fanning eight to earn the shutout win 12-0 win in the first game for Shead. The Tigers also took the second game 15-1.

In the first game, Craig Hastings hit two triples with an RBI for Shead. Matt Altvater hit a two-run double and Derek Maloney doubled and singled.

Micah Barnes singled and stole a base for East Grand of Danforth.

In the second game, Aaron Sullivan had three singles with three RBIs for Shead and Altvater singled twice.

Adam Beudoin doubled and scored a run for East Grand.

Billy Scull and Josh Turner doubled and singled for the Tigers with Scull driving in a run. Brandon Levasseur added two singles.

At St. Agatha, Josh Chamberlin allowed only one run on one hit and two walks while striking out six to help lead Ashland past Wisdom.

Alan O’Clair hit a two-run homer for the Hornets and Chamberlin doubled and singled with a RBI. Jeremy Baker hit two singles (1 RBI) and Matt Saucier doubled with an RBI.

Justin Michaud singled in the second inning for Wisdom.

At Hodgdon, Ben Pierce pitched six innings and struck out 11 batters as the Shiretowners edged Hodgdon.

Harry Austin hit three singles for Houlton and Aaron Fitzpatrick added two.

Bruce Currie notched an RBI double for the Hawks while Tyler Schools doubled and singled.
