Opportunity missed
I am sorry that your sports department did not feel the need to cover the recent YMCA State Gymnastics Meet. Over 240 outstanding athletes from all over the state met in Old Town for two days of competition. These athletes do something that most young people who compete don’t. They train and/or compete year round. This dedication shone in the faces of not only the athletes but the proud families and friends who came to watch.
I’m sorry your department missed this great opportunity. It was your loss. There’s a great story out there about a 20-year-old full-time UMO student who not only coached a fair amount of first-place winners but also organized an exceptionally well-run state meet, a feat many coaches twice her age couldn’t have pulled off any better. I hope your readers enjoy your ad nauseum reports on the Red Sox. It seems that’s all they are going to hear about.
