Panthers score 10 runs in fifth, rally past Tigers

MARS HILL – Central Aroostook tallied 10 runs in the fifth inning Monday to erase an eight-run deficit on its way to a 14-10 high school softball upset of Fort Fairfield.

Angie Brewer had a two-run single in the inning and later added an RBI single. Jessica Grew had an RBI single, as did Stevie Fletcher, in the rally. Central Aroostook scored three runs on bases-loaded walks and took advantage of two errors.

Fletcher added two more singles and another RBI while Destin Larrabee singled twice.

Ellie Arato laced a two-run homer and drove in three runs for Fort Fairfield. Danielle Searles singled twice and knocked in a run.

Limestone 14, Fort Kent 1

At Fort Kent, Lindsey Beaulieu hit a triple, double and two singles to drive in two runs and help push Limestone to the win.

Nikki Michaud doubled and singled with a RBI for the Eagles and Jacinda St. Pierre had a double and a single.

Leah Babin doubled and scored the run for Fort Kent.

Madawaska 13, Washburn 1

At Madawaska, Amanda Plourde doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs to lead the Owls to victory.

Beth Gerard added two doubles and an RBI for Madawaska, while Sarah Nadeau doubled, singled and had three RBIs. Monica Thibeault pitched a four-hitter for the Owls.

Liza Maynard paced Washburn with two singles.

At Dyer Brook, sisters Amanda Charette and Audrey Charette combined for nine RBIs to lead Southern Aroostook past Greater Houlton Christian Academy.

Amanda Charette had a two-run home run, double and single and Audrey Charette had a triple and double. Amanda Clark stroked two doubles, two singles and three RBIs.

Megan Korhonen tripled, doubled and drove in two runs for Greater Houlton Christian.

At Hodgdon, Natasha Ritchie allowed one run on three hits and three walks while striking out nine to help Houlton win.

Anna Lenentine hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning for Houlton and Ritchie had three singles to drive in two runs.

Samantha Williams doubled for Hodgdon.

At Blue Hill, Brandi Winters tripled, doubled, singled and drove in two runs to power George Stevens Academy by Washington Academy of East Machias.

Robin Rioux added three singles and two RBIs for the winners and Liz Tyler singled twice. Brittany Davis allowed only two hits, struck out eight and walked two.

Megan Look hit a two-run triple for the Raiders and Mary Mawhinney tripled.

At Belfast, Steph Whittier gave up just four hits and three walks while fanning 11 to earn the shutout win for Belfast.

Kate Ross hit a three-run double in the second inning for Belfast and Lauren Overlock doubled twice and drove in a run.

Angela Goodrich, Amanda Fortin, Kristen Burke, and Tasha Kao singled for Erskine Academy of South China.

At Searsport, Theresa Cameron hit two singles to drive in two runs and also struck out eight to push Searsport to the victory.

Nori Francis-Mezger singled twice to knock in two runs for the Vikings and Breanne Kingsbury added two singles with an RBI.

Regyn Lawry had two singles with an RBI for Deer Isle-Stonington. Keegan McDonnell tripled and Christina Fifield had two singles.

Shead sweeps East Grand

At Eastport, Britney Lingley struck out 11 East Grand Vikings in helping the Tigers win game 1 of a doubleheader, 18-8. Shead won the second, 19-9.

In the first game, Tiffany Martinez tripled, singled and drove in three runs while Celia Cummings had three singles and three RBIs for the winners. Roliza DeWitt added a double, two singles and two RBIs.

Allie McKay homered, singled and drove in two runs for the Vikes of Danforth and Gina Zaneldin knocked a two-run triple.

In the second game, Lingley cracked a homer, two singles and plated five runs to help the Tigers get the sweep.

Cummings doubled, singled and drove in four runs while Tricia Candelmo had three singles and three RBIs.

McKay had two singles and plated three runs for East Grand.

At Jonesport, Alicia Feeney had three doubles and four RBIs to lead the Knights to the win.

Hailey Torrey hit an RBI triple for Narraguagus of Harrington while Mary Eva Tenan doubled. Elise Dublin had nine strikeouts.

Starr Look had two singles and three RBIs to lead the Royalettes while Sarah Beal doubled and singled.

Candace Rioux doubled and DeEtte Martin singled for the Mustangs.
