Juan Frederico “Fefo” Sanchez has signed a National Letter of Intent to play men’s basketball for the University of Maine this fall.
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound freshman from Bahia Blanca, Venezuela, averaged 25 points per game in the country’s 18-and-under league for Club Independiente. The younger brother of Temple University star Pepe Sanchez, who also played in the NBA, can play either guard position, but may be groomed as a point guard.
Coach John Giannini calls Sanchez “the best passer that we saw in recruiting this year.”
