Big School (Classes A-B)

ELIOT POTVIN

Eliot Potvin, a freshman tennis player at Hampden Academy, had individual match wins over Bangor, Presque Isle and John Bapst during the week. He also won a pair of matches in preliminary-round play of the State Singles Tournament, winning both without allowing losing a game to advance to the state Round of 40 as the No. 1 seed in Eastern Maine Region II.

Small School (Classes C-D)

DAN HILTS

Dan Hilts, a junior righthander for the George Stevens Academy baseball team, pitched a no-hitter with seven strikeouts and four walks Monday as the defending Class C state champions defeated Washington Academy of East Machias 5-0 in a key late-season battle at Blue Hill.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

AIMEE BROOKS

Aimee Brooks, a Mount Desert Island sophomore won the 200-meter dash (28.89 seconds) and the 400 (1:03.52) to help the Trojan girls claim the Hancock County track and field championship Friday. She was also fourth in the 100 and anchored the winning 4×400 relay team (4:23.16).

Small School (Classes C-D)

SARAH BEAL

Sarah Beal, a junior leadoff hitter on the Jonesport-Beals softball team, racked up eight singles and two doubles for a .588 batting average and a .632 on-base percentage. She also scored eight runs.
