Shead High School, Eastport

EASTPORT – Jeanne R. Bishop, principal of Shead High School in Eastport, has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2004.

Kathleen Esposito, daughter of Louis and Susan Esposito of Eastport, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2004. She will attend the University of Maine to study biology with future plans of attending dental school to become an orthodontist.

She was a cross-country runner for four years and was on two Eastern Maine championship teams. She participated in mixed nuts drama club for four years, including one-act competitions, and has performed for community theater with Stage East and the Magnificent Liars. In addition, she has been a member of the tennis team for four years, is vice president of the Shead senate and assistant editor of the yearbook. Her other activities include Maine Youth Voices, the National Honor Society, U.S. Academic Decathlon, math league and the Aerospace club.

Esposito is a member of the staff of the Shead Sentinel and is the school reporter for the Quoddy Tides. She attended Girls State and the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Conference. She is involved with many church activities.

Vanessa Bouchard, daughter of William and Paula Bouchard of Eastport, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2004. She will attend the University of Maine to study chemistry with future plans to become a pharmacist.

She has been a member of the Maine Youth Voices, chorus, yearbook, the National Honor Society, Shead senate, mixed nuts drama club, one-act competition and math league. She is a three-year member of the basketball and softball teams.

Caitlyn J. Stellrecht, daughter of Karen Harner of Eastport, has been named first honor part for the Class of 2004. She will attend Smith College in Northhampton, Mass., to study biochemistry to become a physician.

She has been active in soccer, math league, the Shead Sentinel, yearbook, mixed nuts drama club, one-act competition, band, National Honor Society and Maine Youth Voices. Her awards included Shead student of the month, the National Roll, and Who’s Who Among American High School students.

Tara Kierstead, daughter of Keith and Lisa Kierstead of Eastport, has been named second honor part for the Class of 2004. She will attend the University of Maine to study radio communications and business management.

She is editor-in-chief of both the yearbook and the Shead Sentinel. In addition to being class treasurer all four years of high school, she is president of the National Honor Society and group leader of Maine Youth Voices. She has been a four-year member of the band, the mixed nuts drama club and one-act competition. She has managed the boys varsity and junior varsity basketball teams for three years.

Kierstead is active in community service and has worked with Promising Futures, Eastport for Pride, the local food pantry, the Senior to senior Christmas wreath program, recycling and mentoring programs and raising child awareness against tobacco. Her awards include Shead student of the month, the National Honor Roll, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, and the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award.

Jesse R. Call, son of Lois J. Call of Eastport and Lawrence A. Call of Bangor, has been named the third honor part for the Class of 2004. He will attend the Boston Conservatory to study music education and music performance.

He has been president of his class for the past three years and is business manager of the Shead yearbook. His other activities include U.S. Academic Decathlon, math league, the Shead Sentinel, photography, soccer, tennis and weightlifting. An accomplished musician, he has been an active member of the Shead band, pep band, jazz combo and chorus. He has won honors as a second tenor in chorus in the All-State Festival, and as a tenor sax soloist at the Maine State Jazz Fest. He has been active in community service as a member of his church choir and the Dennysville Festival Choir. To raise money for the Shead Music Boosters, he is producing a CD of sacred music recorded in Shead’s new digital recording studio.

Britney Lingley, daughter of Peggy Lingley of Charlotte and Dale Lingley of Woodland, has been named the fourth honor part for the Class of 2004. She will attend Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pa., to study psychology with concentrations in biopsychology and neuroscience.

She has been active in athletics, having been recognized as MVP and Downeast Athletic Conference All-Star in softball. She also managed the girls varsity basketball team. She is president of the Shead senate, a member of the National Honor Society and Maine Youth Voices. She is active in the International Order of Rainbow for girls, and will spend the next year serving as grand worthy adviser, a nationwide office.
