Parent steals one for the Crusaders

VAN BUREN – After the tying run scored in the sixth on a wild pitch, Matt Parent stole home on a delayed steal play to score the winning run for the Van Buren Crusaders in their 5-4 baseball win over Ashland Thursday.

Jeremy Chasse singled twice with an RBI, Kyle Chasse singled twice, and Matt Gagnon hit a two-run single in the third.

Kevin Baker doubled for the Ashland Hornets. Kenny Lewin and Spencer Perry each had RBI singles.

At Fort Kent, Matt Bouchard scattered six hits while walking four and striking out four to notch the win for Fort Kent.

Bud Soucy’s RBI double and Ben Bouchard’s RBI single in the second scored all the runs the Warriors would need.

Ryan Cousins singled twice to pace the Vikings.

At Dyer Brook, sophomore righty Travis Brooker fired a five-inning no-hitter, striking out 13 and not walking anybody, to pace Southern Aroostook to its eighth straight win.

Griffin Hardy had two doubles and two RBIs, Evan McGary singled twice with an RBI and Zack Austin contributed a run-scoring triple.

East Grand of Danforth turned a triple play and a double play.

Will Barker and Ed McCullough each singled for Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

At Houlton Wednesday night, Kyle Gagnon, Chad Lavway and Danny Michaud teamed up on a three-hitter, striking out 11 and walking four, as Presque Isle upended Houlton.

Chris Parsons doubled home a fourth-inning run and also had a single. Spencer King had two singles for Presque Isle and Derrek Belanger and Tim Lyford had consecutive squeeze bunts in the seventh.

Corey Lewis doubled for Houlton.

At St. Agatha, Heather Anderson scored the game-winning run from second base on a Kayle Daigle single in the eighth inning to give Wisdom the victory.

Christa Lizotte hit four singles for Wisdom and Nicole St. Pierre had three singles. Michelle Bourgoin doubled and singled with two RBIs and Daigle added two singles with three RBIs.

Katie Thompson singled four times to drive in five runs for Greater Houlton Christian.

At Van Buren, Pam Spooner smacked a three-run homer, a double and two singles while scattering six hits in the circle to pace the Hornets to victory.

Ashley Nemer poked a triple and three singles for Ashland, while Lindsey Long singled three times.

Megan Lavoie led Van Buren with two singles and an RBI and Amy Vaillancourt posted a run-scoring single.

At Blue Hill, Robin Rioux drove in three runs with two singles, including a two-run single in a decisive four-run second inning, as George Stevens Academy upended Mount Desert Island.

Patty Lymburner and Brittany Davis also had two singles for the Eagles, who won for the ninth time in their last 10 games. Lymburner singled in a second-inning run.

Nia Megquier had a pair of singles for MDI.
